A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, Emanual is currently a general music teacher for the Richmond City Public Schools (Cardinal Elementary School). He has been a member of the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra since autumn 2003. Emanual has served the orchestra as a trombonist, composer, assistant conductor and now interim music director.

His former conducting experiences were assistant conductor of the Norfolk State University Orchestral Consortium, conductor of a brass ensemble which provided worship music at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Virginia, choir director for St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Edenton, North Carolina and music director for the Chesterfield Community Band (now the Chesterfield Concert Band).

Emanual holds degrees from both Virginia Commonwealth University (B.M. in Instrumental Music Education) and Norfolk State University (M.M. in Music Composition/Theory). He is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Emanual resides in Midlothian, Virginia, with his wife, Guadalupe.
